Skill gain.

Post by smart86 »

Remember when you first started playing on OSI? It would take months to get anywhere on skill. I don't think most people gained skill by macroing. I remembering doing the bone wall, sometimes switching for skele mages for resist. Took FOREVER to gain any hiding. I don't remember when but at some point you had to move to gain skills. I remember the 8 step movement thing.

What do you remember about skill gaining?

(Topic just for discussion not for mechanics changing)

8x8 came with UO:R. I spent the best part of a year wandering around the world trying to gain begging, never did get above about 95. Here on UOSA it took a night of unattended macroing to reach GM. In some ways nice, but no sense of achievement.

And that's about it for my memory of OSI skill gains :?

I think the highest I got with hiding was 80 or so.

Hiding was a skill I always had GM'd in era because it only took one key press so I'd just jam something down on the keyboard. I do remember PKing with magery in the 60's and 70's, though. Good times.
