Ancient wyrms as pets...
Ok so I know that osi eventually nerfed the ability to tame ancient wyrms but i had one on my gm tamer from before the nerf... They let me keep it if memory serves as...... Any tamed on this server? I can't remember when we lost the ability to tame them it was pretty early and if none are dragons and wyrms the most powerful tameables here? I can't remember any stronger.
Re: Ancient wyrms as pets...
White Wyrms are the strongest I think, but I've never finished a tamer so I dunno.
Est Sularus oth Mithas
Re: Ancient wyrms as pets...
Not that I know of, although someone used to have a green color dragon.
Re: Ancient wyrms as pets...
This was possible during the earliest days of UO, but was not possible only a few months after release. One such wyrm was owned on Great Lakes until late UOR when the pet bonding system was introduced, and the owner was forced to give it up. Of course, since this was a mechanic that was only available during the first few months on OSI, we do not have any tamed ancient wyrms here, which leaves the white wyrm as the strongest tamable creature here.

Re: Ancient wyrms as pets...
odd, i thought the only thing Wyrms had over Dragons was mana pool and starting magery but a Dragon could be trained up to gm magery still lacking the mana of the wyrm but more hp, harder meleee, same spell arsenal along with fire breath would make the dragon stronger in my opinion. I dunno maybe the movement speed would make a wyrm fully trained better than a fully trained dragon.
Do they have the same melee speed/dmg as eachother?

I think he just meant in terms of taming requirement.
Actually, shouldn't white wyrms be stronger in melee? That was always my understanding... they had less STR (mid-700's, versus 800-825 for dragons) and HPs, but either more Tactics or a higher base damage amount or something like that, which resulted in more melee damage than dragons. This is just a fleeting memory of mine.
In any case, even with the better initial magery and melee, I preferred dragons back in the day, because (a) for long farming trips, mana pools exhausted themselves, negating most magic damage from both, and (b) firebreath from dragons was heavy and un-resistable by Resist or Armor. So I felt like dragons did more damage per second, possibly for your first few monsters, and definitely for the later ones.

I think this is maybe the best source of dragon and wyrm stats in that period after Animal Lore allowed this stuff to be known, but before "resistances" were introduced.
WW listed as having slightly more damage and more dex. I don't have the slightest idea what that "damage" number means though, beyond just a relative sense.

Re: Ancient wyrms as pets...
I used to like to run with 2 WWs while farming on GL, but then after mana is gone it's mostly low spells and melee. While this is true for both WWs and Dragons the thing is with Vet skill or GHs with good magery the Dragon's Firebreath seals the deal. With both being very strong tamed pets once the mana is done so is the WWs advantage while if you keep both healed the dragons firebreath stays pretty constant.
