Why are there so many EVENTS?

Post by hobbes »

Why is there always an event? isn't it hindering the server by pulling people out of actual gameplay? I'm not saying it is hindering the server...just a suggestion.. Is there always a GM hosting the event? or is this automated?

Well...its different people in different time zones...which is my guess for why they are spaced apart. Plus, before and after an event, most people goto town and wait (brings people together) and after there might be some pvp somewhere after people leave the event (brings people together.) My 2 cents. I like the events. Breaks up the monotony.

They have reduced the amount of events and I enjoy them.

There use to be about 54 events a week, now there are 26. I still wish the events were cut down even more, even though I do enjoy them myself. I would rather see more field pvp and player run events [auctions, rp events, pvp tourneys, etc ] then automated gm run events.

The GMs will never be able to cater to everyone, so I don't think they should try. If players want to play events, they should make the time to be on for them, not have more just to allow those players to play. UO rewards players the more active they are ... shouldn't be able to be rewarded with fun and in-game trophy reward points for showing up 2-4 times a day at specific times then logging off.

Gauging the maturity level on this server, I think it is beyond the dimension of our reality to hope for anything of that sort which requires some basic etiquette not to mention civility.

More or less.

However, I do believe a further cut down of events is on the horizon.

I have honestly never even attended one event. I am too busy. Quite honestly, I don't wish it on any staff to be running events, because I remember what a miserable time I used to give to admins trying to control the chaos of events, I treated them even worse than I treated my substitute teachers in elementary school.

Monotony in UO?!?! :o

With around 50 different skills, there are a near infinite number of combinations..

Shame on you for suggesting such a thing

I would also rather join player-run events rather than automatic ones.

I will say that after events it does produce some heated battles afterward because everyone leaves the arena to look for a fight, usually in bucs den. But the events dont last too long, therefore there is still plenty of action on the feild before and after.

as its been so far the amoutn of events during the week has changed with the population of the server, with few people its hard to get alot of interaction, events relaly helped, now the server has 10x as many people its easier to interact outside of events, as pop grows i think youl see events shrink

I can still hardly get any pvp even when I'm outnumbered. Only person who will fight no matter what so far is Andy.

I think there should only be 2 of each type of tournaments weekly on the weekend having each type simultaneously. For example, Friday evening have the no pots, magics, etc... type 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3 back to back, and tha same thing for the pots, magic weaps, etc... tournament on Saturday. Have them start at around 8pm eastern so they will be before peak hours, but during a time when peak begins and ends when it peaks at 11pm'ish.

This would be ideal because the majority of players go to tournaments with their friends and so forth anyways. If you have each type of tournament back to back they would essentially be packed since it would be considered a tournament night in a sense. This way there won't be a ton of tournaments a week and have them packed with players. Another bonus would be after the tournaments are over around peak hours people will possibly even field more on top of this after the tournaments producing even more field fights.

Friday Night = Bad IMO...

Well that is if you go out and such.
