Player run taverns

Post by BlacKnight »

In 1999 on Europa a big group of orcs bought a large brick house and decorated it up like a tavern for their RP town. Some of the GM's liked it so much that they ended up making it a tavern (IE: a place anyone could log) and even built some goulish stuff around it (pikes, bonfires, bloody stuff). They even had NPC waitresses that sold liquor/cider/foods

That "town" became a hub for warring guilds to go and fight the orcs, it was epic. No bank, no shops, just a tavern and the orcs houses.

Not only would something like this reward those who play orcs (let's be honest the builds suck and it's a win by numbers game), but also it would encourage more PLAYING on this shard.

From what I can tell 90% of this shard is trading. Not alot of hunting parties out there, in fact i've seen more reds killing hunters than I have hunters.

Anyways, food for thought. Not only was it cool of OSI gm's to do, but it was even "era accurate" for those who would say this wouldn't meet the t2a shard ruleset.

This shard is getting more and more introverted as it ages. Three years ago all of the "veteran characters" were running around being goofballs. Nowadays these people are semi retired and the shard is full of people with, and no offense to the current playerbase, a certain lack of character or uniqueness.

Its like the playerbase is becoming more like ants. Go out, do something, come back, repeat. Do not engage.

i agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately just saying this doesn't change anything.

That's why i keep asking for/looking for a test shard. Like abyss used to be.

Tons of regs, instant skills, not like these no skillcap shards but a "set fencing 0, set magery 100" kind of shard/test center. That wipes every week, so you have time to form your guilds and make your wars, set your tower down, and battle it out.

It's why my main account alt name is Whoopsie the Red... in honor of abyss in t2a times when I had a blue and a red char

it forces people to go all out and it was nonstop fun the whole time, and you could still sit there and afk macro your regs (forwhatever reason) on the second age shard.

HELL IT EVEN KEEPS IT ERA ACCURATE! It existed DURING THE ERA!

sorry been looking for it for years

Correction to last!!! that may have been the wrong era

in fact i'm pretty sure that was a crossover

the test center that WOULD be the right era had moongates all over UO with skills, you walk into a moongate and it gmed you, that was it!
