New player q's

Start by saying i haven't played UO since about 2000.

First problem i have is that when i try to change things under options (such as transparency circles) when i hit Apply, that game gives me a Fatal message and knocks me to logout screen. Any way to stop this?

Second, is their suppose to be what looks like snow on the ground everywhere? if there is does that mean Regeants don't spawn on the ground? or is this snow illusion what is causing me to be unable to find them. If it isn't suppose to be there, any ideas on a quick fix? If it is, do regs not spawn on ground on this shard?

Welcome to Second Age!
The snow on the ground is the result of your client patch, and fixing that issue may also fix the options crash problem.
I recommend a reinstall with a patch to version 5.0.8.3 only. Just hit cancel when it starts downloading 5-0-8d

Getting a Client has stopped working message sometimes though, and i switched both razor and the client to compatability windows XP, know anything else to troubleshoot? im on Vista.

edit- read under another post to alt-o and get rid of sound, while depressing i wont be able to listen to the great music! i'll give it a try.
