Razor not very nice with Inscription.

Post by HardActToFollow »

Does anyone have a good macro that will work with Inscription. I'll set a restock macro grab reagents and 2 scrolls. Then use Inscription and target DType " Blank Scroll" . It will run for like 10 times and then Razor will "forget" where or what a blank scroll is and it will timeout. Anyone else have this problem with inscription?

It's because one of the scrolls you made have the same item type as the blank scroll. You need to make sure that you move the scrolls you make in a secure container or a bank or dump them in the trash. Thats my thought.

I had a similar issue with tinkering shovels. It seems it only happened after i was logged in and playing for a while. Relogging before I began making shovels allowed it to run smooth and as long as i wanted. If I mined for a while, I needed to relog to make shovels again. Not sure what the issue was. It sounds like that is the same problem you are having.

I am going to ROCK your world with the following information.

When it comes to inscription, unlike all other crafting skills in game there is a little quirk that is often overlooked that will reek HAVOK on your macros. Inscription will only allow you the opportunity to make scrolls for spells you A) have the spell in your spellbook for, and B) have the regs currently to make. So, lets say you create the macro with a full bag of regs. You would then choose lvl 7 for flamestrike and then choose 3 for flamestrike. All is well while you run this macro. But if you come back a day later to make the same macro, and low and behold dont have any black pearl, then suddenly it will not show lvl 4 spells at all, or maybe remove one spell from the 7th circle. Suddenly your macro line choices of menu choose 7 then menu choose 3 no longer apply. So when you macro inscription, just make sure that whatever you had on you for regs when you made the macro, you have on you everytime you run the macro.

Also, and this applies to alot of macros like tailoring, but in this case inscription. Keep the absolute target for the blank scrolls and don't target by type. Then when you use a restock agent, add one more. So if you are inscribing flamestrike, have restock give you 2 scrolls and 2 blackpearl and 2 nightshade. That way, when you make the scroll, you use 1 of each, but the absolute targets remain in place with the remaining 1 of each. The reason you do this is cause razor is really lame and always seems to want to target the blank scrolls in the box, or the bolt of cloth on the ground, or whatever that will absolutely drive you insane as opposed to the easy stuff in the bag.

And though most people realize it, it is a good thing to point out, add some meditation in your macro, and always put pauses between complex tasks like restocking agents and what not.

Thanks for the tips! Here is the funny thing about my client, I'll have just NS and BP in my sack and one day it will do as you say and only allow me to choose the spells that I have reagents for (fireball, Ebolt, Poison) etc. Then the next day, I will show me all the circles of spells, not just the ones that I have reagents for. My only guess is that razor is detecting my "stockpile" and assumes I have reagents for all the spells when I am only restocking NS an BP.

Oh well I got around it by doing what you said keeping it as absolute and it seems to work better. thanks!
