My house is still there, no longer owner... wtf ?

Post by Francois424 »

Hello all, long time no post !

I was refreshing my house every week for a few months.
I *know* I did not skip the 2 weeks for it to decays into oblivion because I also Refresh my friend's small house and it's still standing no problem.
Last refresh was before Xmast vacation, which was on the 22nd or December.

Now I log with my main account and I am house-less. Sitting on the porch... house at the same place and same model...
What gives ? I really don't know what to think of it.

So it now after the hollidays, on the eve almst, of the new year, and my 500+K house is gone and I am freezing in the cold. :(
Depending how Derrick replies to my personal message for the investigation of this issue it might be my last few days of playing this server.

Happy Holidays everyone...
See you next year (in a few days)... maybe.

Are you sure you didn't refresh on the 24th?

last refresh was on the 22nd of December...

And now someone is selling my house on the housing forum.

I guess that means the refresh mechanics didn't kick-in on that day. 15+14 = Dec29; the date the guy advertised selling my house (Cheap price too, oddly).

Weird thing is that I did refresh it at same time as my friend`s small house.
Otherwise it would've collapsed too (if it did collapse and not a bug) !
Man that sucks

[EDIT] Posted warning on the guy's selling post. Just in case.

[EDIT2] Ok might be on 24th, but it was done, why was there something on 24th?

Never wait the max refresh time. It is bound to always bite you in the butt.

That why I do it every week.
At any rate we'll know pretty soon.

Soon being when Derrick takes a look at his PM box, which could take a while as Xmas vacation are still ongoing for many people.
I'm pretty sure I'm screwed anyways, but if I did miss the refresh window, my small house would be gone as well and it isn't.
That's the only reason I'm contacting him about this...

Then again, that's what happens when you don't play much. I knew I should've at least transferred all the goodies inside my bank at some point.
But lots of stuff happened in the last few months (my best friend's Dad died , and it spawned lot of legal issues, so my playing partner wasn't able to play as well).
Some other, rather heavy personal stuff happened as well. So I didn't have the heart to log and spend the few hours it would have taken.

Sh*t happens.
/sigh

I am wanting to bet what happened was you refreshed the small house, then last save happened, and you refreshed your L. Since it was after last save but before server drop.. the refresh didn't work. Do you happen to recall if the time you last logged in to refresh was between 630am-730am eastern time? That's the time window of last save and server wars. A good friend just lost a castle because of this very scenario.

Since I am always asleep at these time, I don't thing it was a server war thing.
I usually refresh anywhere between 11pm and 4am EST.

When I returned from break in Dec. (around the 22nd-23rd) to refresh one of my houses I found it was greatly worn and suddenly condemned for some reason. My char was logged off inside (the owner), I went outside and back in then checked the sign after I didn't get the refresh message to notice it was suddenly condemned and did not display the house name.

I paged a GM to ask why it was condemned but before they answered I went over with my other char who is co-owner and opened the door and miraculously it refreshed and was no longer condemned. Possibly some odd bug?

Ah you lucky you. My co-owner was also ejected from the house
I guess I better take the habit of refreshing twice a week instead of once a week.

Assuming I get around getting another deed or tow to get another house

Couple things here bud:

1) Are you sure you opened the door to refresh the house? Double clicking the sign will not refresh it.
2) It sounds like you were refreshing multiple houses, so, with that being said, rae you 100% sure you were refreshing on a character that was friended to said house? (And cant stress enough did you open the door?)
3)Are you 1000000% you refreshed it? I know it sounds crazy but my one house fell years ago cause I wsa refreshing like 5 houses for people and forgot to refresh my own.
4)ARE YOU SURE YOU DOUBLE CLICKED THE DOOR ON A FRIENDED OR CO OWNED TOON?

I hate that you lost your house, but the housing decay mechanics are in the code. No doubt you thought you refreshed your house but for some reason your house didn't refresh (didn't open door, server wars, got distracted, was drunk, refreshed a bunch of other houses but forgot this one, Hollande placed a 75% tax on the house and it fell from the weight of taxes, your co-owner transfered it to someone else, your calendar was wrong, you had a psychotic episode, you're running a sympathy scam, etc.). Rest assured it's your fault. Not trying to be a dick, I've just learned over the years here that when something goes missing (like an item or a house) there's ALWAYS a logical explanation, even if you can't put your finger on it just now. Sorry.

If you need a deed to buy a new house, let me know and I'll hook you up.

Which house is it? Let's start a fund to get it back for him.

Dude I don't despise Europe, I despise a guy who puts a 75% tax on French millionnaires. It's retarded.

Even the French deserve better than that
