GM LP!

Post by fdtreece »

GMLP.jpg
Yeah I can hear the cheering from all over UOSA :) Took a couple months off and on to GM, especially with the picker crowd growing by the day it seems.

The real reason I posted was to ask some advice...Here is my current template: GM Hiding, LP, Stealth, Remove Trap, Stealing and Detect with 50 mage and 50 tracking.

This was a very fun build to play as the stealth picker, but I have noticed that even with GM remove trap, it still fails a lot and I find myself just popping the chests anyways out of impatience. Stealing was there for rare collecting but I have done none of that so that could go too.

So I'm going to lower detect for sure to GM magery, but what else do you guys think I should add to this guy to make him even more fun? I'm thinking cartography at the very least, but there will definitely be some extra points in there...

Bout time, now maybe I can get a few of those chests.

If you are going to add carto for maps you will need a little mining too.

Definitely remove, remove trap - just pop the chests from a tile away (while still hidden)

Don't need tracking for anything you're looking to do - drop it

GM Magery and Cartography and you have a T-Mapper

You don't need ANY mining because all the spots are marked in runebooks.

Stealth, Hiding, Magery, Cartography, Detect, LockPicking, and either keep stealing, or swap for: eval int - to be more effective against mobs/defensive against pk's, or meditation, but that would be more of a convenience thing - or resist to make yourself less vulverable to mobs/PK's.

edited to add - even if you drop stealing - you can still steal from chests/containers if you still want the rares - it just takes a few tries.

Mining? We don't need no steenking Mining !

0 mining will pull up any chest as long as you are on the right square, not a hard thing to do with a TMAP lib.

What's the purpose of detect with this build? GM picker can pop lvl 5 chests without detect...

OP, I would not morph the toon into a treasure hunter if your plan is to solo chests. I think provo would be needed to effectively manage the mob while casting EV to take them down when doing lvl 4-5 maps. Drop remove trap, detect and tracking... get meditation and snooping and be a picker/thief/rares . I have a similar build and being able to snoop/steal from folks farming when making your dungeon chests rounds can net some good items. Meditation will help make your rounds quicker/often... This build is purely for getting items and defense until you can away from folks after snagging their loot.

Agreed. However, with rare hunting. Good luck that! I put my time in. It isn't easy by a long shot.

Congrats on GM LP. Haven't achieved it myself.

@ nubnub - So if you are GM LP, you can pick a LVL 5 T-Map without detect? Thought you still needed a certain level to attempt - even while GM.

If thats the case - would suggest grabbing a newbie lute and start music/provo (for the T-Map build)

-or- like the meditation/snooping for the dungeon thief

Yeah dude I've tried camping a few rares and got lucky a couple times, but it's much easier visiting your vendor in Skara :) The dungeon thief does sound fun, I wonder if I'd get more vanqs from chests or people lol Med is a for sure, good call. I had to go buy it since taking mage up a little bit with 0 med was brutal.

Thanks for the suggestions guys and don't forget the 2nd chest on Despise Island as well as the Hell Hounds chest (have to search the room good for it, even the next room sometimes). Those two seemed to never be picked, even if all the others were done :) Time to macro!

Been at 95 shown myself for a while now. Guess I'll jump on the bandwagon and start my journey to gm now. Just dread the time required..
