Archery attack speed based on stamina?

Post by HardActToFollow »

Just curious how archery works.

a) does 100 Dex fire faster than a 25 Dex?

b) When you equip can you fire right away or do you have to wait a cooldown cycle before the first shot?

c) I am assuming Archery gets the STR, Tactics and Anatomy damage bonues?

d) How does Archery work in conjuntion with another weapon? Can you fire and switch to a katana and then switch back? What about Magery, can you fire and then cast spells and re-equip and fire again.

thanks!

The speed of all weapons including ranged are based on your current stamina.

Any weapon can swing/shoot if the combat timer is ready when you equip the weapon. There are key differences with ranged and melee weapons though. Archery has a delayed shot of 1 second after it shoots unlike melee weapons that do direct damage after it swings. The swing/shoot timer delay on archery is always in moving motion unlike the melee weapons that require you to stop moving to elapse. This on the other hand means that archery has a seperate thread for its timer making it distinctly different that seperates the cycling process with weapons to "fast swing" as people like to call it. This literally means you cannot shoot, cast ebolt, and be ready to shoot again after the target pops up like melee weapons.

I'm pretty positive that archery receives all those bonuses. I know that it receives the tactics and anatomy bonus for sure.

Archery does get the tactics and anatomy modifier, and more dex will allow you to shoot quicker. The 1 second delay mentioned above is only for the damge to occur. So if your running around, and you stop for .5 seconds, then move again, you will have shot, but the damage wont occur until 1 second later, I guess so the arrow can "travel" to the target? One thing to note about archery is that the accuracy modifier on magic weapons will NOT add to tactics, instead it will add towards your archery skill, adding no additional damage, but giving you up to 123.5(or so) Archery skill with the best weapons. This is good or bad. It does mean that you hit your target more often, and archery does seem to miss more than conventional weapons, but you cannot get a weapon that does extra damage past the Vanquishing +9 modifier, unless it has some charges with fireball or lightening or something, but that is only temporary.

Archery, is pretty good with 25 dex, I can shoot, explode-ebolt, and shoot again without a delay with 25 dex, a greater agility potion, and a regular bow. That little combo can catch someone off guard, and unlike the populay hally-combo, you can do it from a distance. Toss a well timed purple potion int the mix and spam harm when your done, while the box recharges and you can really catch someone off guard if not immediately kill then. But, generally, archery sucks for anything except PvM. I just like the ranges because I can run pretty good and have no room for wrestling.
