AFK Fishing

What are the rules on AFK fishing? I know you cant do it for resources but is there anything i can do to AFK skill gain legally? Thanks for any info!

Can't really do it AFK. Best you can do is run it on a client, and play another account/watch a movie/work/study karate on youtube with your journal from the fishing account visible to see if staff is checking in on you.

the staff has been very clear on this. I'd dig up the thread but I'm lazy. AFK fishing for skill gain is not acceptable. Even if you have a pack full of iron ore and produce no fish or MIB...

Spent a little time digging.... In 2008 Derrick said it was legit to fish AFK from shore for skill gain.

In 2012 Kaivan said it's not ok to afk fish despite having a full pack. (question asked earlier in thread and Kaivan's response is on pg 4.)

It comes down to Staff discretion. I personally do not jail people who are AFK fishing on the shoreline or right off the coast (eg: not in "deep sea"), that's not to say Kaivan won't.

AFK fishing on a boat in deep sea is likely to result in a jailing by any Staffers who happen upon you.

really discretion i thought policy changed with a post from staff forever ago? saying that afk fishing in shallow water was no longer allowed and now was also considering afk resource gathering like it was in deep water.

When someone is nabbed for AFK fishing, mining, whatever.. we confiscate all resources related to the activity. For fishermen, this would be fish, footwear, MIBs/SOS, treasure maps. The confiscation can be as simple as your backpack + boat or for repeat offenders, as far as going through your bank and home for items related to the activity. Again, this is done on a case by case basis but our policy does allow for such actions to be taken.
