New Event Idea- Defend the King!

This is probably a lot of work/impossible but here it is.....
Teams = However many people join
# of people on each team = 4
Each team is put into different rooms.
These rooms would be relatively big, big enough to make a maze out of. Not a room like the survival event, much bigger.
The room layout would be one 3-tile wide pathway criss crossing through the room (Element TD anyone?) and the rest of the room would be elevated, with bridges or teleporting pads leading across the pathway which is below.
The monsters will be released at the start of the maze from a cave or respawn point. These monsters will have the sole purpose of getting to your npc at the end of the maze (Lord British?).
The first wave would be very easy, like mongbats, headless ones etc.
The waves will get harder and harder, until there are ancient wyrms going through the maze.
On the elevated platform where your team is located, there would be different pads that could do certain things; A pad that makes spikes come out of the ground, a pad that does a giant explosion, a pad that releases poison, a pad that paralyzes all enemies below, stuff like that.
You would have a set number of lives (I'll leave this up to the gm's as I don't know how many creatures would be coming at a time).
There could be trick rounds where the monsters below would do unexpected things; teleport, attack, stealth, etc.
I don't know whether players should be allowed in the pathway or not, I'd rather they weren't allowed in the pathway, but than again Dexers would be excluded. Perhaps there could be a way to give everyone the same skills like Magery, Meditation, Archery, Eval Int, Anatomy, Musicianship, Provocation (skills that will help kill from far away and you aren't taking damage)

People would be allowed in the pathway and everyone would keep the skills they came in with.
This part is open to debate as I don't know what people would rather have. I like the first as it sets everyone on equal playing ground. But than again the 2nd one gives more variety.

So like a tower defense minigame? That's a really cool idea but I would guess that it would be a lot of work to script. Good idea though! I'm sure if Derrick had more help things like this would be more feasible to make a run at, however I think shard mechanics and inaccuracies take up the bulk of his time.Mr.T wrote:This might be a lot of work to come up with but here it is.....
Ok so there would however many number of teams, each with 4 people. You are all seperated in different rooms. Wave after wave of monsters would enter and you'd have to stop them from killing an npc at the back of your room.
Your team is on an elevated platform and the monsters run in below you. There would be different platforms next to you to do certain things, like blow up a trap where the monsters are coming through, and different stuff like that.
The first wave would be very easy, like zombies. Than gradually it would get harder and harder.
This is just the starting of an idea and it's open to other ideas

Ya pretty much like a tower defense
your team would come up with diffrent strategies like wall of stoning the pathway or energy fielding, poison fielding and stuff like that. Making use of skills not used a lot in regular uo.
Maybe you could herd them to the back of the room or tame one to help you kill the others, these are just ideas.

The survival events are a blast, but something is missing from them, and they are scheduled so infrequently I almost always miss it.

I have trouble picturing how this would be set up as far as an arena or what not. I'd love to start playing around with a new event idea if you have the time to describe this one a bit more to me

How about Dragon Wars where you have two teams that have to make it through a gauntlet of monsters to face the opponent teams Ancient Wyrm in a life or death battle? The monsters themselves could be part of one or the other's teams, or remain chaotic.
