I identified it as a breast plate of protection and guarding with 32 charges.

we currently dont have magic armour with charges but it would be a nice addition.

and although personaly i never remeber quests like this they obviously existed it seems?

Aye, I've planned to do these types of simple quests too
There was a very basic quest engine I'd like to ressurect.

I have a Necromancers bone helm and eye of newt on my Keep NExt to yew moon gate, from the Necro quest used to do it started in Brit and ended in Nu'jelm Cemetery or something, was fun the Cove quest is still active did it other day when i was warming up. not sure about the Brit Guard tower and the Brit cemetery. ? ;] i love these type quests, just adds more to the game.
