Easy Stat Gain
Here's the method I've always used to max my stats out fairly quickly. Some of you will be familiar with it and some of you won't.
The only downside is if you are a new player it will cost you a few thousand gold, depending on how many skill points you have. So here's how it works:
Step 1
Go around to any and all NPCs that teach skills and train skills until you reach the 700 point skill cap. The only exception to this is don't train herding.
Step 2
Go to a weapons vendor and purchase a shepherd's crook
Step 3
Lock all of your skills except herding. Leave herding at 0 and pointing up.
Step 4
Go to a stable and setup a Razor macro to herd an animal that's in a stall. Put a half second (500) delay on the macro and loop it.
Set up your Razor macro like so:
Use shepherd's crook
wait for target
target animal
wait for target
target spot on ground beside animal
pause 500
Loop
Also make sure your shepherd's crook is in your backpack. I had problems with Razor finding it if I was holding it in my hand.
If you're going for 100str/25dex/100int and you're not going to be watching the macro to lock dex at 25 when you get it, go ahead and lock dex right away. That way you can max str and int while afk macroing, then later come back and finish up dex in a short amount of time. Some goes for 100str/100dex/25int. Lock int initially and come back and finish that after you've maxed str and dex.
Strength gains are the fastest, dex gains are 2nd fastest and int gains are slowest using this method, but it will gain all 3 stats. If I had to guess I would say it takes about 3-4 hours to max all of your stats using this method.
Hope this helps some of you out there. Let me know if you have any questions or problems with this.

Re: Easy Stat Gain
This is a bug and is going to be fixed tonight.

Re: Easy Stat Gain
How is that a bug, you've always been able to gain credits in a skill, even if it doesn't raise, as long as it isn't at 100.0. I've been doing this since I started playing UO..

Yeah I'm not sure either. Nevermore has known about it for months as well. But the day I post this guide it's getting 'fixed' that night.alatar wrote:How is that a bug, you've always been able to gain credits in a skill, even if it doesn't raise, as long as it isn't at 100.0. Re: Easy Stat Gain
I agree with alatar... I don't think this is a bug unless there is something in there I missed. In my opinion nothing much should be done about this.alatar wrote:How is that a bug, you've always been able to gain credits in a skill, even if it doesn't raise, as long as it isn't at 100.0. Re: Easy Stat Gain
It is kinda cheap..... It takes days to get max stats and you say 3-4 hours with this?
I personally am fine either way. But still....

Re: Easy Stat Gain
Yeah, basically. We're not a fast gain shard. There's no way you should be able to completely max stats in the time it'd take you to watch a movie. Not to mention I'm 100% sure you couldn't gain stats like this during t2a. That's why the see-saw method was so popular during t2a. This is obviously a flaw introduced by emulation.
We can just ignore that you just posted a major bug on the forums for the whole shard to see when before it was atleast semi-unknown so we could do more important things in place of fixing it.

We can just ignore that you even made this statement when I was merely pointing out a fact about you knowing about it for quite awhile. It wasn't a criticism.Nevermore wrote: Whole world's out to get ya, buddy.

I even asked Derrick today if it was ok if I posted this before I did and he said I could. And yes he knew what I was talking about when we discussed it, contrary to what you told me in IRC when I inquired as to why you removed this post to begin with.

Re: Easy Stat Gain
It's how you say it. "Of COURSE they fix it when I post it, but not when I don't post it." You're implying that we're only fixing it because YOU posted it.
And I said Derrick probably didn't know what you were talking about, because in the bit of conversation you showed me you didn't really explain to derrick what you were posting. I couldn't speak for him and I couldn't ask him because he wasn't around. So to me it sounded like some miscommunication between you two.

Re: Easy Stat Gain
It's alright. Derrick knew what I was talking about. Nothing to get into a huge debate over really. Things are easily misunderstood over the internet at times.Nevermore wrote:It's how you say it. This method takes nearly 4 days to max out stats, I don't know where you got that information from..Mr.T wrote:It is kinda cheap..... It takes days to get max stats and you say 3-4 hours with this?

Re: Easy Stat Gain
INT gain is extremely slow from this, isn't it? Can you mix Spirit Speak in and it won't effect Herding time?
Re: Easy Stat Gain
Yes INT gain is slow, but you can get to 100 in about 4-5 hours still. Only reason I exclusively use herding is the very low delay, which makes up for the other skills longer delay times.silex wrote:INT gain is extremely slow from this, isn't it? And Apollo/Alatar, there's no way this method takes days to max stats. It can be done in 4-5 hours tops.

Re: Easy Stat Gain
doesn't seem to work for me that way
