Every ten seconds another hair falls

Post by archaicsubrosa77 »

This ten second delay thing is causing the macro-coccoon status of newbie players/characters to be prolonged, and the heavy PK element is keeping them locked down and secure outside brit bank until they feel more certain of themselves.

Unless a serial townkiller makes his rounds or an event happens Brit is zombieville.

Just stating the obvious, I know this is how it was. Maybe in time people will get restless and go out even if they didn't spend three days GMing anatomy.

Yeah, I don't foresee any drastic changes in gameplay mechanics, or skill gain rate.

MAYBE there could be an in-game event that could happen in Brittain.

But I agree with you that it is very disheartening seeing so many people unattended in Brit. I would like to see a nice temporary in-game invasion to shake things up. I know it would just move alot of Macroers to Moonglow or something, but I'd pay to see the look on those players faces when they come back to their computer to a gray screen, and hordes of monsters or reds running around.

I wonder if no macroing in town would be a worth while policy to look into.

This way if you must macro you are taking a much larger risk of your character dying.

No macroing in town only would work against the population the OP trying to assist. After all, we don't start off with a house and, for the shard to grow, we need more than just the usual group of free shard vagabons with friends with towers to drift in and out of this shard.

Really screws new players... they cant even macro herding in the stable on night one and provo the next day to build up a farmer to build other chars.

Im sure most of us forget what it is like have 100 gold and 18 of each reg as the only thing to our names.

Brit bank is a terrible sight. Espcially since that is the first place anyone checking out the shard looks. It would be nice to find a way to fix that!

I personally don't run macros but I do realize I'm in the Minority here. I feel it's up to me to dertermine my own gameplay style, and I know forcing my veiw upon other players would be wrong (no matter how right I am. ;) )

But I found out that this community is fairly friendly, and sort of respectful of non-macroers.

QUESTION TO TOPIC STARTER: As much as I dislike the concept of macroing your way through your skill so you can reach some sort of mythical "end game" content, why do you feel that action must be taken against it?

Very easy to find an isolated spot for something like this or anything for that matter... I know the goal isn't to "social engineer" the era, but this would actually benefit this area significantly. Most of the macroing always happened outside of town due to the fact of the anti-macroing policies in place. People will still be able to macro but risk a more significant penalty.

I would say the main reason(s) action should be taken is...

1. On OSI, Unattended macroing was forbidden. Yes, people did it anyway, but it was not allowed and so people did it where it was less likely they'd get caught.

2. As stated above, Brit bank is the first stop of new people to the shard. While Brit bank is never an accurate way to judge a shard, it IS how most people judge shards. Whenever I had tried a new shard I ran around the bank a bit...

Does town killing with purple potions still work? If someone has a GM alchy that can supply me with potions, I don't even use my third account so that 4-5 murderers I can create there as I blow up macroers and clean up the bank. Lol

Well Derrick *DOES* say that he prefers it when the player community solves things for themselves. ;)

True that!

but, why do i think this no longer works? Can anyone confirm town killing with pots is still possible?

That being said.. ill provide DP'd daggers and knifes so a dexer can get a swing or 2 in before getting guard wacked... DP is an alternative to pots! Just sucks taking counts on a char with GM fence/swords. (tacts doesnt matter as all we are worried about is chance to hit!)

Where is chumbucket when we need him?

Dont bother with potions, just make a newbie, hand him a poison scroll for his spellbook, poison someone, then hop a gate to chaos shrine and repeat. That 10 newbiefied nightshade goes along way.

If this gets arranged and happens tonight, I *SO* want screenshots on the forums.

In fact, I'd offer a chest full of shipwreck objects for a screenshot of non-naked corpses scattered all around the brit bank (sorry, that's all I can afford right now).

Perhaps this is the start of a violent and radical anti-macro movement?

Because really, anything you can do to grief large numbers of future active UOSA players is a good thing, right?

Maybe I'm sounding a little vigilant here, but in my head, a "PLAYER" isn't someone who goes off to do something else while a program plays their game for them.

And it's not like we're talking about chasing down and rez killing new players in brit still figuring out how to move, talk, and trade. These are people that sat down and did research that they turned it from an enjoyable game, into a system of mechanics, numbers, and formulas.
