For ideas on how to make Second Age a better shard. Can it get any better? Maybe.

Suggestion for playerbase

Post by Pacifico »

There are probably a few inactive/people who started to play but never got into it, that have forum accounts. I think UOSA should have a weekly newsletter emailed to forum users. (of course this can be unsubscribed) Also, not sure if this is doable, but most accounts are registered with emails... so maybe the newsletter can be mailed to these aswell.

A few positives:

*It allows players who aren't active to see what's going on, which might bring them back.
*Expends the sense of community with a newsletter maybe even made by the players
*Another way for people to view events both player and staff run

A few ideas for the newsletter:

*display the automated events for the week (CTF etc)
*display events players are hosting (Resist Training, tournys, etc)
*display the pic of the week
*if theres a patch, maybe provide a link to the patch notes

Just an idea, of course the newsletter doesn't have to be weekly... it can be biweekly or monthly.

Whatcha think!?

I don't see anything wrong with something like this.

I think a monthly newsletter would be awesome.

Are you thinking a newsletter that would include events schedules along with player ran events and also patch notes? Elaborate please.

I know Angel Island did that. It always got me interested, sadly I wasn't a fan of the shard, but it's a good idea.

This was a quick example, of course it will look better and more professional:

The links would be the main website, forums etc. Also maybe uo.stratics.com, t2awiki... player made websites if there are any.

And of course this is just a suggestion, and if implemented everything can be customized to add whatever the shard wants to advertise.

Make it short, sweet, and flashy kinda like the TF2 update pages:

Having huge blocks of text would shun people, I think. Good idea though

I think this would be great.
There's a lot of information organization that needs to be done too. I'd really like a place for player run events to be posted in a calendar format.

We would of course need a way to opt-out people from the newsletter, but I think we can do this though forum config.

The draft looks great.
