Personally, the plus side of this to me is that most people actually use vanqs in fights. With our current knowledge and understanding of mechanics, GM-vs-GM weapon fights would last a lot longer.
I agree GM weapons and GM resist makes fights last much longer. Even a force hally makes a big difference, IMO. a 10+ force can insta-kill while a GM usually can't.

Tank mages are supposed to be able to insta kill, the problem though is that right now we have the cycle timer inaccuracy which makes vanqs better than they are because you can keep spamming hally for high DPS and no mana cost. But that will get fixed next patch anyway.

I think magic weapon drops are very balanced, I don't find that many powers or vanqs at all. And there's always the chance of getting too many broadswords just like t2a off daemons, doesn't seem that bad.

Sorry, I meant "would have gotten you" the +5 halberd of power... like, in 1999.

Nothing about that post was a stretch.

this isn't true, it's def not 100% drop rate on LLs. only mobs that GUARANTEE a drop are AW, balron (broadsword) and maybe WW (not sure on that one). i've farmed 100's of LLs and i got 1 +15 vanq kryss, rest was junk.

you can get a lot of vanqs doing t-hunts but you still have to get the maps. if you can be bothered doing lv1 after lv1 you can get them quite easily

and yeah, i agree with psilio, while you can get a lot of vanqs easily on this shard, 95% of the vanqs you get are crap anyway. i picked up a +25 double handed vanq axe the other day and tbh it's just a shitty weapon despite being +25 vanq. you have to luck out for really great weps, i saw 5 magic hally/bardiches from level 4 tmaps yesterday and the best was just a power hally with no tact mod (worth like 3k?). i actually sold the rest as junk to vendors.

Ya I didn't mean you get a force/power weapon off every LL.
I just meant they drop a magic item everytime.
Whether it be a wooden staff or a magic hat, it drops a magic item nonetheless, everytime. Which is era accurate so I don't know why I posted in the first place.

yea they do drop magical wooden staves every time, but the best you can get really is lightning/ghealing wands which aren't exactly the same thing as getting uber magic weps

*enters the random once a month reply guy* Ahem. If it took you 2 hours to farm 6k in 1999, you were the sucksaucefacenewb. :) You could have surpassed 6k in 2 hours at the Brit GY I'd bet. Def. a stretch.

Let's argue about our hourly rate in a video game from 11 years ago - good times!

I think 6-10k is a good estimate, factoring in the amount of times you die to PKs, lag, etc, the portion of the times you show up at the LL room and there's 7 guys there already (100%) and end up splitting the spawn in the bone mage room with 1 or 2 other guys instead. If you died in Deceit, you ran as a ghost to the shrine, ran back into the dungeon, and spent another 10 minutes bumming a gate or recall regs and a rune off of someone. Just because you logged in one time and had a lich spawn to yourself and pulled in 20k one hour, does not make your hourly rate 20k.

So yeah... 6k I think is pretty reasonable, all things considered.
