Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
It really isn't a matter of how fast or how easy it is. The problem is that you could not gain combat skills off a player back in the day. I'm not literally saying it was impossible but pretty close. The gain ratio off a player was much different than that of an NPC. I've also confirmed this through the patch notes.Faust wrote:In reality people shouldn't be able to have a setup like this though, because you couldn't gain combat skills off other players back then. That is the reason they went to the earth elementals in Shame and the Bone Knight room in Deceit instead.

I gmed swords/Fencing/ and Macing in an attempt to gm tactics.Derrick wrote:This is the first report I've heard of people not GMing Tactics first. You have a chance to gain tactics every time you do damage, and it's not difficulty based like the weapons skills are.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Wrestling 92.0 91.2 +91.2 100.0
Tactics 85.1 85.1 +18.8 100.0
Swordsmanship 100.0 100.0 +0.8 100.0
I might hit 90 tactics before gm wres, we shall see =\

Melee skills are way too easy compared to what they should be. Went from 93-100 in about 10 mins off a bull. Lol. I'm also almost GM in two melee skills before tactics.
Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
melee skills and stats are far too easy in general on this shard.
magery is more on par with osi, melees should be as well

Nah, Magery is simple here too. Back in the day it took me a year and a half almost to gm my first mage. lolHemperor wrote:melee skills and stats are far too easy in general on this shard.

Honestly the two hardest skills to gm that are commonly used are
Tactics and Healing.

Hmmm, i remember when i made my first dexxer my friend and i took about 10 days to macro it up. we nearly GMed melee off of eachother . i know we had to fight WISPs for GM Parry though. That was THE HARDEST skill to GM. I got so pissed when there was a breif bug that allowed any fool to GM Parry off of a few pigs and a chicken.Faust wrote:It really isn't a matter of how fast or how easy it is. Maybe you're right, maybe we were able to get to mid 90s off of each other because I remember fighting bone knights for some reason. To GM Archery we fought the spiders at that temple thing and to GM Healing we jumped off a cliff over and over again and then ressed ghosts.

Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
I cant believe anyone would say that any skill gain here is slower than OSI.
Sure, if you dont do it correctly, as slade stated, your tactics will lag behind your weapon skill.
However, to say that the skill gain is slower than OSI, means you never played OSI.
How about we change the tactics skill gain rate to match that of T2A OSI...talk about the forum flooded with people crying....

Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
It seems to me that tactics, parry and taming are the only skills that are accurately as hard as they should be. GM'ing weapon skills in 2 days and even macroing anatomy or evaluate intelligence in one day makes no sense either. So everyone should really stop complaining about the few hard skills to GM on this shard.
Take some pride in the game and in your gains... Like you did back on OSI.

Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
I gm'd parry on OSI using bladespirits..
My friend used the wisps lured into his house which also worked.

Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
Yeah derrick tactics has been very hard to gain.
Even if I store buy or start with 50 tactics, I still am at 90 after GMing swords and wrestling from 0, and have to macro wrestling for another 3-4 hours.
**Parry was so easy for me to gm, it took me like 5 hours unattendly.
I just attacked like 4-5 sheep, lured them into my house and had an alternate character healing me.

Re: Tactics Gains slower than OSI
Ok I read some of this.. kefka GM tactics and a fighting skill was less than a day on OSI at the skele knights in deceit (remember the wall?) this was of course given they had 100 dex. Very easy to do, had tons of characters quickly made.
As for THIS SHARD, I gm'ed fencing with about 71 tactics, I vividly remember... I thought it was purpously meant to be that way to keep new players but not make them OP....So I never mentioned anything. This was back in.. September?
