Give trophies out, but have no silver value attached to them or $ value.

Since events are pretty much no risk, lots of reward the way they are - I have an issue with them. Take out the reward and I am 100% ok with them.

I think bringing them back in this manner would benefit the shard overall.

I'd like to see rewards. Why are people so against spicing this game up?

Additionally, since the silver system in general does not seem likely to go away, delete the entry gold and payout instead with silver. Maintains the accessibility of the silver rewards, provides a regular and consistent gold sink, and ofc the enjoyment of the event itself.
give 70% to winner rest to the "gold sink", 1 ip per game so if a user has 3 ip's in-game he would be putting in pretty much he would benifit ?

Never had chance to enter in any but love to do so

The goal of the shard trumps all. Rewards for attending automated events in a safe zone is specifically in conflict with the goals.
Many people are interested in spicing things up, but do not care to put forth the time and energy to do so as a player.

It's really about a lack of people willing to spend their 'game time, working' for other people to play the game. I ran some events and had a kick ass time planning, setting up and running them. It did, however, take a shit ton of work, that the VAST majority do not want to do.

Long story short, auto-handouts (translated: rewards for events) is completely inaccurate to the era and should not return unless/until the most prominent tenet of the shard changes.

My point was you can go out in the real world, farm gold, come back and buy silver from people who got it from santa. THEN you can cash it in for cool prizes.

But nice attempt at twisting it.
This makes fuck all sense to me again. Wasn't one of the biggest arguments that silver was worth 10k a pop and that was a load of bs people were getting this for "free". What do you call the Santa event then? Getting people to call old friends and log all inactive accounts on to give them free silver vs playing tourneys and pvm events for silver.

thumbs down to anything that takes people out the real world into an area were the mechanics are twisted for a safe pvp/pvm fun house with no risk that generate Silver/Rares/Money of any sort.
Host events in the real world player or staff run.

Maybe someone has suggested this already but what about this:

1. Events are not a every day event. Maybe twice a week.

2. For an event to take place at all, a certain amount of gold must be spent by players, e.g., when one million gold has gone in the pot, an event will happen.

3. Rewards for winners of tournies worth less than the cost of getting the event going.

I have no clue what the price would need be and how often they will need to be held in order for this to work as an effective gold sink. But there it is.

Big tourny's had 25 or so participants, so to get 1mill you'd need each one to pay about a small deed as a sign-up fee. I am positive that number would drop drastically if you required a small deed buy-in.

I suggest having less events, at MOST one a day, preferably one every 2 days, and no reward. If people want rewards, let them play for them.

And Delerium, the santa event is a flat award to all players. It's the same as anniversary bags giving hair restyles and name change deeds. Everyone got them, it's not something that required you to remove yourself from the actual "world" for an hour or more.

I totally get the complaint that the tourney system took to many people out of the in game world, the old system had a LOT of events do you would have a great deal of players missing for a huge chunk of time. But surely if there was just a few events a week maybe 2 - 3 the players signing up surely wouldn't be missed. If you are concerned about 50 or so players missing for a few hours a WEEK you have some issues and need to get outside, take a breather and see your family.

As I said, one event a day or every 2 days are fine. 3 or 4 events a day like they used to be was overkill.

I was thinking not pay to play but someone or other must sponsor the event with their own gold, but then it is open to all.

I think 2 tournies a week would be good. One with a buy in that has rewards. One with no buy in and no rewards.

For the reward tourney, make the buy in 5k or something. For every 20k in entries add 1 silver to the reward. Obviously the amounts can be tweaked, just a suggestion.

If they were to bring back team events I'd probably leave rewards out of those.

Trophies with no silver value is also a good idea.
