Defiance isn't Sphere... The same person "Jakob" that developed divinity from the get go developed the DFI t2a shard. Zippy created the pre-t2a shard rebirth that had slow to fast mounts. They were all RunUO servers. It is possible to adjust the speed of a player. The GM's here on UOSA run the same speed as a horse on foot if they activate the setting for this particular feature... I've experienced it on the test server.

Thats different. I guess I said it wrong, a player cannot run faster then he can mounted on a horse. That isnt to say you cannot have the client recognize you as mounted when your not.

The way rebirth had it set up for mounts was a bit weird. You would take off slow like you're on foot and speed up the further you would ride to the full mount speed.

Argh! Why does this topic always come up everytime I come to a new T2A shard!!!!

I played and loved the old school UO till they changed it. Then I played and love Metropolis until too many idiots whined, and they changed it.

Now there are more morons on here whining about horses and then I see a post by Crab Juice, (another F head who would never shut up about horses and the art of pvp from Metropolis) saying he is quitting because the pvp here isn't up to his standards and that it's "more about luck." ARGH! You want to leave, fine, but don't offer left handed compliments on your way out the door.

That, and all of this discussion is completely BS. The horses and their speed are 100% perfect and accurate right now. The PVP and everything on this shard is fine. Derek, I know I don't know you or have never communicated with you before (because I just hop on UO an hour or so a day for fun), but I haven't been able to do that since the collapse of the Metropolis shard years ago because of idiots like the people who are saying "we need to change mount speeds" etc etc...

THE MOUNTS AND THEIR SPEED ARE FINE! You are never going to truly replicate the UOT2A experience 100% because like many other people in this post said, we were all noobs back then and didn't have a clue what we were doing.

THE SHARD IS AWESOME THE WAY IT IS! Please, leave it alone, don't try and make changes, let it go, and let it grow! :)

Thanks.
We've not been able to find any evidence that the mounts are faster than accurate either, everyting we can see points to the speeds being correct.

It's hard for me to agree with you, mostly because at first you sounded pissed off, then pissed off at the player(s) then a little at derrick for being involved and then proceeded to compliment him on a wonderful shard.

..I too have had a change of heart... however any and all bugs (even T2A bugs) should not be aloud. And if it is, you should not be aloud to give that information to others. Think about what duping would do....
NO! nooooOO! ....Hot, hot!

Hmmm. So why didnt you just get off, open your paper doll, and get back on? When you buy a horse, it doesnt automatically put you on it, so obviously you knew how to mount it.

Im a little confused.

because im better than you..

The reason was 56k modems. Riding horses back then was laggier than running on foot. Server lines and laggy horses aren't something that OSI wanted to have in their game which is why this server is better than '98 osi.
